Chia

Chia seeds are a highly nutritious “ancient grain” native to the Americas that were historically consumed by both the Aztecs and Mayans. It is revered for its health benefits and was often used as a source of energy and in medicines. Recently, the modern health food market has caught on to the myriad nutritional benefits these seeds offer. Bioriginal's Chia is novel food approved and rich in fiber, protein, amino acids and omega-3 fatty acids.

CHIA SEEDS

Bioriginal’s Chia seeds are selected and screened with great care. The seeds are rich in omega 3, minerals, protein and fibers. The seeds provide 15 gram of omega 3 per 100 gram, is gluten free and has the capacity to bind water unlike any other seed.

CHIA OIL

Chia oil is made from selected and screened cold pressed Chia seeds. The oil is rich in alpha-linolenic acid (ALA, 60%) and manufactured only using mechanical methods.

CHIA POWDER

Bioriginal’s Chia powder is made from selected and screened cold pressed Chia seeds. The product is rich in fiber (45%) and protein (25%) and manufactured only using mechanical methods.

OMEGA-3

Chia boasts the highest concentration of omega-3 fatty acids (alpha-linolenic acid) from a natural plant source known to exist.

FIBRE

Chia seeds contain about 40% fibre, 5% of which is soluble fibre and 35% insoluble fibre.

HIGH QUALITY PROTEIN

Chia seed contains about 20% protein, a level greater than other nutritional grains such as wheat (14%), corn (9%), rice (8 %), oats (15 %) and barley (9%). In addition, the protein in chia is a “complete” protein which includes all 8 essential amino acids.

VITAMINS & MINERALS

Chia seed provides a good source of B vitamins, providing higher levels of niacin than corn, soy, or rice, as well as significant levels of thiamine and riboflavin. Chia is also an excellent source of calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, iron, zinc and copper. It provides more than the 20% daily intake of these minerals recommended for adults.

ANTIOXIDANTS

Chia seeds are an excellent source of powerful natural antioxidants including chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid and flavanol agylcones. An additional benefit of these high level of antioxidants is that chia seeds can last years without spoiling.
